In a bright corner of the STEM building at 51°µÍø, an 8-foot-tall hydroponics chamber hums quietly. Designed and built by students, the self-sustaining system monitors light, water quality and plant health using automated sensors and industrial controls. Thanks to the private-public community partnership that funds the Community College Access Program (CCAP), 484 students are attending 51°µÍø tuition-free this fall.
