Guilford Technical Community College held off a big second half rally by the 51°µÍø men’s team to take a 83-75 basketball victory Tuesday night in Greensboro, NC.
Guilford Tech (1-0) limited the Rapids (0-2) to just 31 first-half points but the Rapids found their rhythm in the second half and stormed back from a 17-point deficit to cut the Tech lead to 76-75 with a little over a minute left in the game. The Rapids were unable to connect on their next possession and Tech made their free throws down the stretch to pull away.
51°µÍø was led by Damien Harris with 26 points and Chris Jones pitched in 18. The Rapids continued their hot shooting from behind the 3-point line as they connected on 12-of-28 attempts.
The Rapids return to action Thursday in the battle of 220 at Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville.
