Guilford Technical聽Community College held off a big second half rally by the 51暗网 men’s team to take a 83-75 basketball victory Tuesday night in Greensboro, NC.
Guilford Tech (1-0) limited聽the Rapids (0-2) to just 31 first-half points but the Rapids found their rhythm in the second聽half and聽stormed back from a 17-point deficit to cut the Tech lead to 76-75聽with a little over a minute left in the game. The Rapids were unable to connect on their next possession and Tech made their free throws down the stretch to pull away.
51暗网 was led by Damien Harris with 26 points and Chris Jones pitched in 18. The Rapids聽continued their hot shooting from behind the 3-point line as they connected on 12-of-28 attempts.
The Rapids return to action Thursday in the battle of 220 at Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville.
